TEMPORA/CONTEMPORA FEST #5
TEMPORA/CONTEMPORA FEST is an international festival dedicated to the performing arts, with a focus on body language and its contemporary declinations. The fifth edition, scheduled from 29 July to 4 August 2024 between Lecce and Galatina, hosted a rich calendar of events, including performances, workshops, exhibitions and meetings, focusing on the connection between local artistic practices and international scenarios. Directed by Franco Ungaro and promoted by AMA - Accademia Mediterranea dell'Attore, the festival is supported by partners such as EU Japan Fest, Institut Français, Ministry of Culture, and many other institutions.
Among the pivotal events of this edition, the Study Day: research, actions, re-writings of the contemporary, organised by Salgemma in collaboration with Marco Petroni, offered a unique opportunity for discussion and reflection on the state of contemporary art in Apulia and Italy.
What we did
Conceptualisation and coordination of the study day
Salgemma, together with Marco Petroni, curated a study day for TEMPORA/CONTEMPORA FEST #5, focusing on research practices, artistic production and curatorial paths developed in 2024. The event, hosted at the Archivio Carmelo Bene in the Convitto Palmieri in Lecce, involved artists3, researchers3, cultural operators3 and institutions to discuss good practices, challenges and future perspectives in contemporary and performing arts.
The event delved into the artistic and curatorial practices emerging from the Apulian and national scene, with a focus on local dynamics and global connections.
Event organisation: video screening and display publishing
The day was accompanied by ‘How does a handful of white flies swarm?’, an exhibition curated by Salgemma with a focus on artist's books, catalogues and Apulian video art. This device offered the public an opportunity for consultation and reflection on the cultural productions of the region.
Promotion and accessibility
Communication was disseminated through social channels and partner networks, with targeted involvement of local and national communities. Participation stimulated an inclusive debate between institutions, independent operator3 and emerging artist3.
