Comune a tutti è comunicare with Giulia Restifo

“Comune a tutti è comunicare” organised by Salgemma in collaboration with That's Contemporary was held at Linea, in Lecce, on 8 October 2022. Designed to provide theoretical and practical skills on communication for artistic spaces and projects, the workshop was led by Giulia Restifo, founder of That's Contemporary, a contemporary art network in Milan. In an era dominated by the ‘performance society’, the workshop addressed the challenges of cultural communication, with the aim of enhancing artistic projects through the effective use of digital and physical tools.

The workshop provided concrete tools to improve the visibility and valorisation of artistic projects. It created an opportunity for participants to learn innovative methodologies and apply knowledge in real contexts, fostering the exchange of ideas and creative collaboration.

Workshop concept and structure

Together with lecturer Giulia Restifo, we designed a training format divided into two sessions:

• Morning: Theoretical study of artistic communication, with the analysis of case studies and strategies related to private events, public openings and events.
• Afternoon: Practical activities in groups, including the simulation of communication plans for different scenarios (e.g. opening of new spaces, solo exhibitions, young artists' group shows).

Target audience
The workshop involved a diverse audience, including art students, artists3, curators3, cultural space managers, cultural planners3 and art communication professionals.

Promotion and accessibility
The event was communicated through targeted social media campaigns. We adopted a subsidised pricing policy to favour the participation of university and Fine Arts Academy students, making the workshop accessible to younger people and those in training.

Involvement and impact

The workshop created an opportunity for learning and confrontation, offering concrete tools to improve the visibility and valorisation of artistic projects. It also fostered a creative exchange between participants, stimulating collaborative work and the application of knowledge in real contexts.

Giulia Restifo is cultural communication expert and project manager for contemporary art, brought her experience in promoting projects with institutions, galleries and cultural companies.
