FLEE project presents to Salgemma Odyssey of an Italian ritual, a tribute to Pizzica, represents a contemporary music release. Dedicated to Tarentism, this project tells the story of a centuries-old choreo-musical ritual from Southern Italy, mobilizing frenetic rhythms and maniac dances, to exorcise women of a mysterious evil caused by the bite of a spider. Trans-disciplinary, this effort of documentation and artistic re-interpretation of one of Europe’s most mysterious trance phenomenon is comprised of a double LP vinyl compilation and a hardcover Italian/English book.

FLEE is a curatorial platform specialized in the documentation of forgotten music phenomena, and their hybridization with contemporary art practices, using a transmedia language. Funded by Olivier Duport, Alan Marzo, and Carl Åhnebrink, the entity functions as a publishing house, exhibition organizer as well as a music label. Over the last years, the three curators have been organizing exhibitions in several cities (Espace Eeeeh Geneva; Acud Macht Neu Berlin; etc) and their work has been presented and showcased in various museums, festivals, and concept stores (Rencontres d’Arles; Biennale Oggetto Libro; Last Tango Zürich; Combo Turin; Ekko Festival in Bergen; 10 Corso Como; etc.). In 2018, the curatorial platform started Extra Muros, an itinerant creative residency dedicated to vanguard music and sound art. After a 2019 residency in Kenya, the forthcoming Extra Muros’ edition will take place in October in the Norman Castle of Sannicandro di Bari, in Apulia.
